Kohaku is a slender, petite girl who stands at roughly 5'4". Her limbs give away the fact that she does not use physical combat, but she can pack a punch to protect herself or express her anger at something. She has a very pretty, innocent-looking face with wide amber eyes. Her hair is dark brown and always has an orange ribbon headband in it when she isn't going on a mission. Her hair reaches down past her shoulders, and almost her shoulderblades. If it wasn't already obvious from the picture given, Kohaku favours the colour of orange above all others because it is bright and 'cheery'.
As for the outfit she usually sports when training; it differs from the one in the picture above. She wears a fitted orange tanktop with chunky straps and a dipped back, a black skirt that reaches her mid-thighs with a white trim, black elasticated shorts that reach her knees and personalised ninja boots in mainly black and white with the odd flash of orange on them. On the back of her shirt is her adopted father's clan symbol, and on the front left is a small panda. Her dress styles vary with the weather, and she likes to make a statement with everything she wears; determined to stand out from the norm. After blending in for so long, she wants to finally present herself to the world as boldly as possible.
Personality: Even though Kohaku hasn't had the best start in life that one could ask for, she remains ever positive and optimistic. She is always the one that looks on the bright side of everything, no matter how bleak the situation may be. She believes for everything bad that happens, something good will present itself in turn. Her ability to cherish all that she holds dear makes her a very wonderful friend to have. Her loyalty is like that of a dog; even if she is treated badly by a friend, she will stick by them until the bitter end. She is very sociable and chatty, bright and cheerful. It is very rare that one will see Kohaku upset about anything. She hates to cry in front of people, and thus will lock herself away to let her tears flow.
She is quite the creative girl in ways of being artistic, and is often seen with her sketch pad around the village to capture different drawings. Although she favours her trusty old pencil and paper, Kohaku has made charcoal drawings and water colour paintings. She is the type to not like being alone if she can help it, but with her artwork she prefers to be in peace and quiet. This is the same with when she goes on her midnight star-gazing walks; it is better for her to go alone. One would never believe Kohaku was a kunoichi as she appears too soft with all her girly past-times, sickly-sweet personality and lofty aspirations.
Oh, how wrong they are.
Kohaku's loyalty carries through in battle, and she would rather die or put her life on the line than see her team mates hurt, tortured or killed. She may sometimes be reckless to try and save her comrades, but her determination never fails to impress people. With her heart of gold teamed with an undying determination she has the power to change dark thoughts and ways if she tried. She can inspire those around her to become better people, and to follow their heart in everything they do. She believes strongly that anybody can change, it just takes the right attitude to do so. There are no lost causes, just hard challenges. No complete evil, just wrong choices.
Even though she is no prodigy of a kunoichi and is rather average in her abilities, she does have her strokes of genius and her unbelieveable commitment that make people think otherwise. Young shinobi that she comes into contact with look up to her and wish to follow in her footsteps. She is a figure of admiration for all the average ninja.

Special Characteristics: ~*~Genjutsu Adept; Having an affinity towards Genjutsu means that Kohaku is able to break free of illusions much quicker than others. She can also cast a more effective Genjutsu that is stronger/ not as easily detectable for those at her rank.

Flaws/Weaknesses: ~*~Lack of Stamina; Due to not focusing on anything to do with Taijutsu or physical combat, Kohaku is sadly lacking in stamina or ability to perform these kinds of manouvers. She tires quicker than most and is knocked out easier too.
~*~Reckless; Although many would see Kohaku's love for her comrades being a positive thing, it can also work out to be a negative one too. She sometimes cares so much about her friends that she rushes into bad situations without thinking just to save them; and this can leave her in a dire situation.

The illusionary pain of this technique is enough to knock a target out.

This serves two purposes; Firstly it stops the user from smelling anything OTHER than this scent, and secondly if the scent is powerful enough it may actually knock the target out.

The Beginning ~*~
Kohaku was found on the doorstep of the Konoha orphanage a few days after she was born. She was wrapped in blankets that bore her first name, but no surname was given. The orphanage had no choice but to take the little girl in as a child without parents was one they were to take care of. She was made one of the top priorities because she was a baby, and one of the only ones there at the time.

Growing Up ~*~
As a young child, Kohaku soon showed her kind and caring side. It became obvious that she didn't like to be left alone even for the shortest of times, and she loved to make friends with anybody and everybody she could. The carers in the orphanage were delighted to have such a good child in their midst because most of their time was spent dealing with the bad children around the large house; and the last thing they needed was another person to join in with the terrible behaviour. So Kohaku kept out of the carer's bad books by helping them as much as she could. She organised trips down to the park with all the children she could gather to give them all a break from being indoors. Their behaviour improved massively with this change of scenery, and they were all tired out upon returning to the orphanage.
Going to the park meant that Kohaku could interact with and make friends with other children outside of the orphanage. She learnt about shinobi and the will of fire from her friends' parents whenever she went round to their houses, and was soon enticed by the sound of becoming a kunoichi. She was always going to be the one who would try and make the world a better place, so with this new aspiration she vowed to do just that. She wanted to become a powerful kunoichi to gain influence over the village, and from here she could really help with all the problems that she could see. Her constant day-dreaming meant that sometimes her dreams and aspirations went a bit over the top at times; she wished to become the most powerful ninja in the whole world at times, but knew that she would be happy to become powerful in Konoha. All she wanted to do was protect her village and bring goodness into the world, no matter how hard this task could prove to be.
How She Gained Her Fear of Thunderstorms; Kohaku had been playing in one of the small storage cupboards in the orphanage when a massive storm broke out with violent thunder claps and dangerously close lightning strikes. She panicked, and as she scrambled to get out of the cupboard, she accidently kicked away the can of paint keeping it propped open. All the storage room doors automatically locked when they closed to stop troublesome children getting inside and drinking bleach or the like; so as soon as the paint can was moved, the door swung shut, leaving Kohaku trapped inside. She didn't know what a thunderstorm was, and thus she was absolutely terrified by the loud bangs and bright lights outside. When one of the maids in the orphanage found her, she was a sobbing wreck; cradling her knees and rocking backwards and forwards. Although now she knows about thunderstorms and what to expect of them, she is still terrified of them and she cannot be alone in one.

Academy Life ~*~
Kohaku enrolled into the Academy along with a lot of other children from the orphanage. Even if she didn't already have the aspiration to become a kunoichi, she would have enrolled anyway because all her friends had joined; and she just couldn't be left out. She quickly formed new friendships within her class, and soon found herself in her sensei's good books. She always listened to what was asked of her, and she always tried out new activities no matter what happened. It didn't matter if she couldn't do them, it was her commitment and 'can-do' attitude that won over practically all of the Academy. When she moved around to new senseis for different lessons, they were soon finding themselves extremely happy with her as a student and as a person too.
She continued to carry on with her Academy work at a good pace. Kohaku knew that she was just an average student, but she didn't mind about this. There were plenty of Uchiha students and those also from clans who were the prodigies in Academy work, and then there was her who came middle in everything. It was better than coming out the worst, after all. And there was her favourite subject of Genjutsu that she came out top in. So in her mind, everything was going great.
At the orphanage, however, there was a different story. All through her life, people had been coming to adopt children. One by one, Kohaku found herself losing friends that she had held dear for many years. Although she still saw them around the village, it wasn't the same. They had 'parents' while she didn't. She was now ten-years-old, and getting rather down trodden because still nobody had come to adopt her. Just when she was giving up hope, one Friday after class at the Academy, she was chosen by none other than Shin Hagami; the current Hokage of Konoha. He barely asked any questions about her, only the basics like how old she was, and how long she had been here. He made his decision quickly and Kohaku couldn't help but wonder what he saw in her to take her so quickly. None the less, she was delighted with her new life and father she had in Shin.
Kohaku graduated the Academy at eleven-years-old; a little bit earlier than most in her class because she was one of the youngest of the graduating class. No words could describe how happy she was on the day of graduation.

Genin Years ~*~
Kohaku was picked for a Genin team with two other male students in her class to be with a female Jounin sensei. They all got on really well and had flawless team-work without even trying at first. They went on missions together and often hung around together when they weren't on duty or when they weren't training. After a year or so on the team, they were entered for the Chuunin exams. Unfortunately, Kohaku didn't pass the exams whereas her team mates did. She was extremely happy for them and wished them luck in following their dreams. One went with their Jounin sensei to learn about Medicine, whereas the other went on to become an ANBU apprentice.
Being left behind was heart-breaking, yes, but Kohaku always saw the bright side of everything after all. She trained herself in her Genjutsu harder than she ever had done. Now at fourteen-years-old, she hopes to find a new team where she can put her new skills to good use.
